Best Fantasy Performance

There exists a question remaining from the early days of cricket. How to compare and contrast batting performance and a bowling performance. Fantasy cricket, is a feature that comes into this vacancy. There is no need to introduce this system to anyone who has used it previously. For the sake of others it's a system where u can make a team of 11 players and you get points according to their performance in the match. The score system can be checked from here.

At this time i wondered if all one day innings were calculated according to the fantasy points what will be the best innings quantity wise. With the help of some friends on Ask Stevens wall i found such performances. Then it was process of a calculator. Here are the Top 10 performances.

1. Paul Collingwood vs Bangladesh (ODI# 2252) = 563 points

One of the greatest all round displays in ODI cricket. England's one day master came to bat when the team was in a strong position and added a quickfire 112. Later he replied with the ball in his mean spell of 6/31. this is the best ODI bowling by a centurion :

Still not good enough for England?
  • 112 runs = 112
  • 5 sixers = 6 x 5 =30
  • century = 30
  • strike rate over 125 = 30
  • 5 batsman's wikets = 5x 30 = 150
  • 1 bowlers wicket =15
  • 1 maiden = 6
  • six wicket haul = 50
  • Economy below 4 = 30
  • 1 catch =10
  • official man of the match = 100
  •
2. Shane Watson vs. Bangladesh (ODI#3150) = 540 points

One of the most brutal batting displays in one day cricket. Many records were broken and some just escaped by a whisker due to the low target they were chasing. Watson showed raw power blasting 15 sixers on his way to 185 chasing 232. Almost scoring 2 runs per ball
  • 185 runs = 185
  • 15 sixers = 6 x 15 =90
  • 150 milestone = 50
  • strike rate over 175 = 50
  • 1 batsman wicket = 30
  • Economy equal or below 5 = 15
  • 2 catches =20
  • official man of the match = 100
  •
3.TM Dilshan vs. Zimbabwe (ODI #3125) = 476 points

Those who had Dilshan in their fantasy team in the world will be still thinking of their luck. Those who had him as captain on this match went past others by thousands of ranks due to his performance. Dilshan after setting a world cup record opening partnership then spin the ball for a 4 wicket haul (Mahela's drop cost him a hattrick)

  • 144 runs = 144
  • Getting out = -10
  • 1 sixer = 6
  • century = 30
  • strike rate over 100 = 15
  • 3 batsman's wickets =3x 30 = 90
  • 1 bowlers wicket =15
  • 1 maiden = 6
  • four wicket haul = 30
  • Economy below 3 = 50
  • official man of the match = 100
  •
4. Vivian Richards vs New Zealand (ODI #435) = 473 points

Widely considered as the best all round performance all over the World. Here Viv became the 1st man in history to score a hundred and take a five wicket haul. (remember it comes fourth because this measures only quantity.)

5.Kapil Dew vs. Zimbabwe (ODI #216) = 472 Points

No indian would forget this match where Kapil Dew single handedly took Indians to victory with one of the finest displays of batting.

6.Vivian Richards vs England (ODI #264) = 465 Points

Vivs Brutal 189 against England and the 2 wickets gives him a nod in this list even this was a 60 over match. This was a record at that time until broken by Anwer.

7. Vivian Richard vs Sri Lanka (ODI # 457) = 443 Points

Again it's Viv. the master this time gets in the list for his 181 in his 1987 World Cup. This time his bowling only contributed from the low economy rate

8.MS Dhoni vs Sri Lanka (ODI#2290) = 433 Points

The match where MS Dhoni announced himself to the world clearly what he is capable of. The long-haired wicket keeper who never knew about anything other than hitting at that time took apart the Lankan bowling attack with no-mercy.

9.Cahminda Vass vs Zimbabwe  (ODI # 1776)  = 428 Points

The shortest chase in ODI. Chaminda Vass became the first bowler with an 8-wicket haul in ODI when he ripped apart the Zimbabwe top order with deadly swing and accurate bowling. Sri Lanka just needed 4.2 overs to finish the match.

10.Glen McGrath vs. Namibia (ODI# 1970)  = 419 Points

Glen McGrath, the best ODI paceman in recent times made Namibia look miles below a minnow.

I will end this article with a comment  FANTSAY IS ONLY A MEASURE OF QUALITY NOT QUANTITY

NOTE : For the calculation players batting in 1 to 7 are categorized as batsman and 8-11 as bowlers.
There might be few innings i have missed. Please mention if u find any. :)

Anwer's and Coventry's 194 have points between 390 to 410
Tendulkar's 200 had 398 points
