Hi Spinner, Bye Spinner - I

It all begin at the end of 2007 Ashes. Yes the trouble began. The case of filling Warne's and Pidges shoes were the task. Out of them the way, the rotating cycle, the merry go round of spinners made a comic from Andrew Hilditch.
First it was McGill. After a long wait since Warne retired Aussies played a test and McGill (1), the obvious choice got a chance against Sri Lanka. Well he needed a surgery so Warne's ODI replacement Hogg (2) got the chance. Hogg was not successful in the longer version and soon retired from both formats. After injury McGill played in West Indies tour where his poor performance after injury made him retire. That was where the problem began. Beau Casson (3) the other spinner in the squad got the chance.
For the biggest mission they choose the worst. The spinners job of the Indian tour was given to Cameron White (4), a specialist batsman. Even the he does not spin the ball much to the state team where he captains. After 3 failures they gave the cap to Jason Krezja (5). Now they had real hope. Yes, at last they had found a wicket taking bowler.
Nope, he couldn't take in the next match in home soil. Oh then it had to be changed again. This time Nathan Hauritz (6). (Hauritz previously played in a match against New Zealand few days earlier.)  They sticked with Hauritz for some time. but in the final test against South Africa they gave a chance to Bryce McGain (7). Who failed in his only chance

SEVEN SPINNERS BETWEEN ASHES!!!!

From there onwards Nathan Hauritz had a long run. (Comparatively) But only until the neutral tests. Where they felt to give a chance to the emerging kid Steven Smith (8) That didn't last long as in the next Indian tour it was back on Hauritz. The next person responsible for this is Peterson, whose weakness to left arm spin made Australian Selectors pick left armer Xavier Doherty (9). Again the same story no success at all. they changed that in Sydney test making this look like a Chaplin's play. It was Michael Beer (10), who had a massive 6 FC games to his name. He operated simultaneously with Smith.
Deeepest in the depth if Warne was still there.

Poor Guys
  • John Holland had the chance to become the 9th when he was added to the squad touring India. Unfortunately he was dropped without a match.
  • Steve O'Keefe looked more promising than most on the list but he had chance only in the limited overs format.
Future

For the Sri Lankan tour they have named Beer and Nathan Lyon. Beer had already made his debut as the 10th and if Lyon follows him he will be the 11th. OR else he might follow Holland.

But Still No one knows when will this madness end.
